One big manufacturer of small engines was General Motors. GM 2 Stroke diesel is so-called "Screaming Jimmy". 6-71(6 cyl line) was the world's most manufactured industrial diesel engine.
Ship engines are often 2 stroke diesel too. The 2-stroke diesel is much different than the 2-stroke gasoline engine.
